iPhone Production in India: Foxconn to Build Mega Plant in Bengaluru

The Karnataka government has given the final approval to Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Technology Group. The company is set to acquire a 300-acre plot of land. Additionally, it will invest about Rs 8,500 crore to set up an iPhone assembly unit. The state industries minister MB Patil announced this on Friday in the legislative assembly. It is saying that the government has cleared all legal hurdles for the land transfer and will soon hand it over to the Taiwanese company.

Foxconn plans to start iPhone production in India at the Bengaluru plant by April next year. The plant will create thousands of jobs and boost the state’s electronics manufacturing sector. It is already home to several global and domestic players. The minister said that the government will provide all necessary support and incentives to Foxconn. In order to ensure the smooth and speedy execution of the project.

Foxconn’s Bengaluru plant will be its third in India, after Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, where it makes devices for various brands such as Xiaomi, Nokia and Infinix. The company has been expanding its presence in India, one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets.
